1. Overview

OneMinuteExplain is designed with privacy at its core. All data processing happens on your device, and your voice recordings and transcriptions are never transmitted to external servers. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and how it is stored.

2. Data We Collect

The following data is created and stored locally on your device:

  • Voice recordings (60-second explanations)
  • Transcriptions generated from your recordings
  • Session metadata (topic, date, duration)
  • Reflection notes you write

3. Data Processing

All audio recording is handled by Apple's AVAudioRecorder framework. Speech-to-text transcription is performed using Apple's Speech framework. Both operate entirely on-device. No audio or text data is sent to our servers or any third-party service.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored in two locations:

  • iCloud (CloudKit): Sessions, recordings, and transcripts sync via your private iCloud account.
  • Local device: Data is cached locally using Core Data for offline access.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third parties. Your data remains exclusively in your private iCloud account and on your device.

6. Data Deletion

You can delete individual sessions from the History view within the app. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. iCloud data can be managed through your device's iCloud storage settings.

7. Permissions

OneMinuteExplain requires the following permissions:

  • Microphone: To record your voice explanation.
  • Speech Recognition: To transcribe your recording on-device.
  • Notifications: To notify you when the focus timer completes (optional).

8. Children's Privacy

OneMinuteExplain is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Analytics

OneMinuteExplain does not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage data of any kind.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
